The type of personal information we collect, why, and what we do with it:
- Via our website we collect anonymised browser data (including demographics and interest data) through Google Analytics cookies, which are stored for up to 36 months (although the Gallery will not be able to identify you via this information). If you are happy for Google to track to this information please select to ‘Accept All Cookies’. You can find out more about this kind of tracking via Google here >>
- If you choose to decline cookies to track demographic and interest data, it would still be helpful for our site to gather general information about the number of people accessing the site, which pages they access and how long for (without any of your personal data being attached to this). If you are happy for us to collect this general information via Google Analytics please select to ‘Accept essential cookies’.
- At any time you can select to ‘Decline All Cookies’ if you would rather Google Analytics did not access information via your browser.
- For anyone signing up to our mailing list, either through our website or through a physical event, your Name and Email address will be imported into MailChimp, which manages our monthly newsletter list. At any point you can choose to unsubscribe from our mailing list, which means you will not receive any further mailings from us unless you choose to amend your preferences (please contact us at contact@bobcatgallery.co.uk to let us know your preferences). We will never require more than your name and email address to receive our monthly mailings. If you purchase a piece through our site or via a physical event, we will cross check your name and email address against our main mailing list so that we can tailor mailings to you according to the artists you have purchased previously. If at any time you would like to amend the mailings you receive, or you wish to unsubscribe from any or all of our mailings, please let us know by emailing contact@bobcatgallery.co.uk
- Please note, we will not store any of your payment information longer than necessary to process your payment for a single transaction. If a refund is required for any reason as outlined via our Terms and Conditions, this will be processed via the original payment method, and if this is not available we will request your preferred refund method for this purpose only.
- If you purchase a work of art through our site or through an exhibition or through an art fair stand that we arrange, we will either process your details directly to ship your work, or we will pass your details securely to the artist so they can ship this to you directly. We require that your information is only stored for the purposes of processing your agreed upon transaction, unless you agree to your details being stored by the artist - e.g. on their own mailing list as well as ours - after they have shipped your work (and consent for which will be gathered at the point of sale).
- Please note that BobCat Gallery will store the details of your transaction for up to five years in accordance with accounting for our business (please see the Gov.uk website for further information on why these records are necessary >>)
- Information regarding your transactions (not including your card details) will be stored via our website and/or password protected spreadsheets to ensure your details are secure and cannot be accessed by anyone other than by the Gallery Owner and those who they grant authorised access to do so.
- We will never share any of your information with any other third parties, unless we have your express, written permission to do so in conjunction with specific promotional activities and/or a competition in partnership with another brand. This information will usually be gathered via specific forms via our website and/or at an event, (where this will be made very clear), and will only be stored by us for this purpose and for the period specified (usually no more than 30 days from the end of the promotion and/or competition).
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing your personal information are:
(a) Your consent - for instance, if you have signed up to our mailing list. You are able to remove your consent at any time by contacting contact@bobcatgallery.co.uk
(b) We have a contractual obligation - for instance, if you have purchased an artwork through our site and/or at a physical show/ exhibition. This means we will either process your information ourselves (as outlined above) or provide your information to the artist who will be shipping the work to you.
