Tonia specialises in creating postage stamp art, with a particular interest in mixed media, having completed her BA Degree in Design Crafts. Tonia is based in the Norfolk countryside in East Anglia, England. She creates collectable art using watercolour paint for colour detail, oil paint for background texture and real postage stamps which are incorporated into the
Tonia is inspired by all things philatelic and her work encompasses a wide range of subjects, including both current thematic stamps and pieces of vintage postal history. A wide varitey of stamps from around the world depict everything from animals, sports, space and transport, to architecture and well-known figures from history and the media.
Tonia’s work has been exhibited both locally in galleries and internationally at Stampex, and has also been regularly featured in popular philatelic publications such as Stamp Magazine, Gibbons Stamp Monthly, American Philatelic Society and Orbit, and she has a supportive worldwide following online.
Tonia’s work is a frequent talking point when displayed in homes, and has been described variously as ‘intricate, and wonderfully detailed, sympathetically rendered so as not to lose the essence of the stamp itself’. Her pieces make thoughtful and timeless gifts for friends and loved ones - each piece is hand painted, completely original and unique. Commissions also available.
